Everyone I know who had been to Machu Picchu told me I absolutely HAD to stay at Inkaterra -- they raved about the hotel, and it still exceeded even my highest expectations. It was pricey but worth the splurge for my partner's birthday and a celebratory end to our Inca Trail hike. This is NOT just a place to sleep and shower... staying here is an experience. You will not want to leave the property. Our casita was spectacular -- spacious room with a fireplace, and the backyard offered total privacy with a luxurious patio, hot tub, and outdoor shower. The grounds are gorgeous -- I took an orchid tour with the onsite naturalist and learned how the hotel grows and makes its own tea. Don't miss the outdoor sauna made of eucalyptus leaves! Breakfast and dinner are included in the gorgeous onsite restaurant, and both were exceptional. Service was top-notch. I have traveled extensively, and this is truly among the top five hotel experiences I have ever had.

First off, this location is deep in the jungles of Peru. The location is rustic and charming. It's pricey because everything around Machu Pichu is expensive because of the distance required to bring supplies. The rooms are sparse (no kettle for instance) and basic so don't expect fancy (bathroom has dark lighting). The staff is helpful and nice. We got two rooms close together as we were a family of 4. The location is amazing - near the train station and Machu Picchu. That being said you are in the middle of the jungle so it a great property. We got up early and joined a birdwatching tour which was complimentary of the hotel. The birdwatching guide was AMAZING!! We dragged our kids out of bed at 6:30am to go!

The rooms and grounds are gorgeous. The dinner was good, but we felt a little rushed by the staff. Breakfast was great. The coffee was really good. I liked the location - close to everything but seems far away. The staff went above and beyond - picking up our luggage from our previous hotel, holding it in storage while we toured Machu Picchu, and then delivering it to the train station for us. They also sent someone to my previous hotel to pick up an item that I had left behind. They also lit a fire in the fireplace in our room. I really like the heated towel racks. I liked the gift shop. Staying at this hotel is a once in a lifetime experience. It's worth the money.

Property is absolutely stunning, pictures don’t do it justice. Walking distance to train and bus stations and the most accommodating staff! They held bags on our last day and delivered to the train station so we could wander bag free! *None of the other hotels have this rain forest vibe- definitely choose this one! Food is also spectacular (dinner is included and lomo saltado and tortellini are beyond) and breakfast buffet is everything you could want. Views from the hot tub are magical and the common spaces (libraries, reading books) are pure heaven. You won’t want to leave.

Absolutely stunning hotel, with the feel like you are in the middle of a jungle! Definitely on the expensive side, but worth the splurge! We enjoyed the guided, private Machu Picchu tour, as well as some of the free activities provided on site, such as the bird, watching and orchid tour. Our guides were fluent in English, very polite, and extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. The spa facilities were also pretty good and the food in the restaurant was great. Alcohol drinks definitely on the expensive side, so a heads up there.
